(More customer reviews)This is my first french press. My sister and brother in law only use these. So we went to visit them on vacation and coffee has never been the same. I tossed the drip crap we had and bought one of these from my local Sur La Table for $30. It makes the best tasting coffee ever! I do not use coarse ground as it states. That was a little weak for us. I use fine grounds, making an almost espresso strong coffee. I am now making home made lattes for great money savings!
Now the one con-the lid. Yes, it is cool to have a no spill feature, but you can't clean inside the lid! I can forsee some nasty growth in there sometime in the future. We use ours everyday. I thought about putting vinegar and hot water in and pouring that out to help, but then I have to be REALLY sure to get all that outta there before brewing again. Not worth the hassle for me.
I plan on returning this model tomorrow for one that just uses the beaker to pour and not some plastic part. Plus, staying away from the plastic is better for us in the long run anyhow.

Offering a delightfully modern look in vibrant red, the 8-cup Bodum Bean French press coffee maker is more than just a looker. It features Bodum's patented new locking lid system to both help keep your coffee hot as well as prevent spills. The locking lid gives you total control over the flow of coffee--just press the lever situated above the handle to release liquid. When released, the lid automatically closes, locking in heat, freshness, and flavor.
Perfect for extracting your coffee's aromatic oils and subtle flavors, this 8-cup coffee press can hold up to 34 ounces. The ultra-light, heat-resistant borosilicate glass beaker is encased in colorful plastic, which adds style to your kaffeeklatch as well as adds protection to the glass. It's complemented by a 3-part stainless steel plunger with a fine mesh filter--allowing the flavor of the coffee to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. All parts are dishwasher safe.
To make the perfect pot of French press coffee, add 1 rounded tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee for each 4-ounce cup of water. After pouring boiling water over the coffee, give the grounds a stir with a plastic spoon, then allow your coffee to brew in the press for 4 minutes pressing down on the plunger.
